Mr S suffered a stroke five years ago which left him unable to walk, talk or speak. With huge determination and with the help of OxleyCare live-in carers he has made a remarkable recovery. He has had to re-learn many of the things we take for granted. Today he can talk well, read, and use his laptop. Also, with the aid of a Thermo-mix, he cooks for both him and his carer and is developing a wonderful repertoire of recipes.
One of his great joys has always been racing and recently he co-bought a racehorse. He is now mobile enough to drive and visit the gallops to see his horse being put in through its paces.
“A live-in carer was essential to support my recovery because of the severity of my condition and because my house is in an out of the way part of the country making it difficult for anyone to easily visit and go home each day.” Mr S
“He is so determined. He never complains or skips any of his physio… He has to re-learn so many things, even how to walk on different surfaces such as tarmac, cobbles and grass… He is an inspiration to us all. K (Carer)
He was delighted to tell me that his new horse had won its first race. Congratulations, Mr S.
