Getting to know our new RM. An interview with Claire Walters.
I have worked in the care industry for more than twenty years in both domiciliary and live-in care.
I started as a carer because it offered me flexible work patterns whilst I was bringing up a young family. However, I soon realised that as a carer, I could really improve the quality of peoples lives. My rewards were just seeing their smiles and knowing that I had brough a little happiness to the people I cared for and that they didn’t feel alone.
When I became a Registered Manager, I felt that I could offer support and understanding to my team based on my own experiences and help them grow and develop as carers. I have a number of years experience of running a busy care hub to which I tried to bring kindness, compassion and knowledge.
I am really looking forward to working for OxleyCare because it’s a small family run business which means that we can offer exceptional wrap around care and focus on the individuals we look after.
At home, in addition to my family, I have three dogs (two Yorkshire Terriers and a manic Cocker Spaniel), two kittens (Dolly and Dotty) and a tortoise, who was called ‘Winston’ but it turns out he should have been called ‘Winnie’. I also like gardening and have started to give my back garden a makeover. Slowly!
